That is why preventive urological examinations of the prostate are of great importance.<\/p>\n<p>Every man over the age of fifty should go for\u00a0<strong>the first preventive prostate examination<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Prostate cancer is one of the most common malignant diseases in men. It is in the first or second place in terms of frequency in relation to all malignant tumors in men after the age of fifty. The true cause of prostate cancer is still unknown. It is known that there are hereditary forms in about 10% of sufferers, for which the onset of the disease is characteristic around the age of 50. The risk of prostate cancer increases with age.<\/p>\n<p>There are no specific symptoms that would suggest a patient to suspect the existence of prostate cancer. It is usually detected during routine examinations by a urologist or when a digital rectal examination or PSA test is performed due to another urological disease: benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary infection, etc.<\/p>\n<p>A patient with prostate cancer may not have significant problems with urination.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, depending on the stage of the disease and involvement of part of the prostate by the tumor, the patient may have problems with urination, such as frequent urination, night urination, waiting for the stream to start, weak stream with interruptions, inability to urinate, bloody urine, bone pain, anemia, weight loss, etc., but as mentioned earlier, patients usually do not have any significant problems related to urination.<\/p>\n<p>The exact cause of prostate cancer is still not completely clear.<\/p>\n<p>CAUSES AND RISK FACTORS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Age (after the age of 50, the risk of prostate cancer increases)<\/li>\n<li>Genetics (gene mutations inherited from father or mother)<\/li>\n<li>Prostate cancer in the family (men whose fathers or brothers have suffered from prostate cancer are especially at risk)<\/li>\n<li>Diet (red meat and dairy products increase the risk)<\/li>\n<li>Smoking<\/li>\n<li>Hormonal imbalance (high testosterone level)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SYMPTOMS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Frequent urination<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty starting to urinate<\/li>\n<li>Frequent urination at night<\/li>\n<li>Inability to hold urine (urinary incontinence)<\/li>\n<li>Feeling the need to urinate urgently<\/li>\n<li>Blood in the urine<\/li>\n<li>Blood in semen<\/li>\n<li>Pelvic pain<\/li>\n<li>A feeling of heaviness in the small pelvis<\/li>\n<li>Bone pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DIAGNOSTIC<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Laboratory analyzes of blood and urine<\/li>\n<li>Tumor marker PSA<\/li>\n<li>Digital prostatectomy<\/li>\n<li>Prostate biopsy<\/li>\n<li>Cystoscopy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TREATMENT<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Surgery: TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate); laparoscopic prostatectomy; classic radical prostatectomy<\/li>\n<li>Chemotherapy<\/li>\n<li>Hormone therapy<\/li>\n<li>Radiation<\/li>\n<li>Bisphosphonates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The decision on therapy is based on the extent of the disease at the time of prostate cancer detection. When the disease is detected in the stages of localized disease, that is, when the disease has not spread to other organs, the first choice of treatment is surgery.
